CONCORD, MA – The extensive, respectful renovation of this 1817 historically important home was an extraordinary opportunity for us to connect our clients’ vision with the context and character of the garden in Henry David Thoreau and Louisa May Alcott’s time. Our clients’ main objective for the gardens was summed up in the phrase “rustic elegance”, which suited us just fine. Formal elements are contrasted with rustic stonework, designed to fit in with the agrarian feeling of Concord. We created a parterre garden, completely updated pool and spa, grill terrace and entertaining spaces, all in time for the clients’ wedding in the garden’s first season.
